Tonight’s Top 10 Shows: Tuesday, July 17

Watercooler

Tuesday, July 17

Disneyland opened on this date in 1955. I can’t snark on that, I freaking love Disneyland.

Hell’s Kitchen (Fox 8pm) The remaining contestants have a chance to impress chef Ramsay when they create items for the dinner menu.

They will, however, squander that chance in an epic way. I’m sincerely hoping at least one of them comes up with something that makes Gordie puke.

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family 8pm) A major clue from Garrett sets Hanna and Spencer off on separate missions; Emily experiences another flashback from “that night”; Ezra’s sudden influx of cash catches Aria’s attention.

Ezra’s either a drug dealer, a blackmailer, or a gigalo.

MasterChef (Fox 9pm) Chef Paula Deen selects items for the mystery box challenge, which includes Southern staples and a surprise for the contestants; the challenge winner pairs the remaining contestants, who must prepare a Japanese dish as a team.

Mystery box contents will include butter, mayonnaise, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, okra, cornmeal, and bacon. The surprise is that they can only use a deep fryer to cook their food.

Good luck, y’all!

LA Complex (The CW 9pm) Premiere: Kaldrick tries to make things right with Tariq; Raquel is faced with life-altering news; Abby and Nick’s relationship intensifies.

I swear season one of this show just ended. I vividly remember writing up the season finale for an earlier TT10S in May, or possibly June.

Yep, I sure did. Looks like the actor who said season 2 would be airing in July was right, and the CW execs are a bunch of sneaky lying liars.

The Real Housewives of Orange County (Bravo 9pm) Brooks gives the women a piece of his mind; when Briana joins the group, new questions are raised about Vicki’s fidelity and Brooks’ motives.

I don’t normally watch RHOC, but this looks like Must See TV. Vicki is going to scream herself into an aneurysm.

Dance Moms (Lifetime 9pm) Leslie pushes for her daughter to get a solo; a fight breaks out at Kelly’s birthday party; Abby arranges for her girls to audition for “Drop Dead Diva”; Brooke faces some tough competition.

If Kim Kardashian got a part on Drop Dead Diva, it shouldn’t be too hard to get the girls on the show. I can’t imagine why DDD would need a group of underage dancers in an episode, but I’ve given up on expecting television to make sense.

American Gypsies (The National Geographic Channel 9pm) Premiere: Nicky’s four brothers are forced into a confrontation when a rival family encroaches on his psychic shop turf.

Show summary: This reality series follows the Johns family, one of Manhattan’s most prominent Gypsy families, as it works to preserve Roma customs amid the hustle and bustle of the city, while upholding the family’s power in the community. The family is also looking to expand its psychic show empire. The series showcases the inner working of the community, from arranged marriages to family feuds and successful fortune-telling shops. Former “Karate Kid” star Ralph Macchio serves as an executive producer for the show.

Not living up to stereotypes at all.

Pregnant in Heels (Bravo 10pm) Finale: A second-time mom fears that she won’t be able to breast-feed and makes an odd request; Rosie falls behind on her own pregnancy preparations.

I shudder to think what that odd request might be. People get weird about breast-feeding. Really, really weird.

Teen Mom (MTV 10pm) Episode: Temper Tantrums — Farrah’s mother and sister visit; Maci enrolls her son in preschool; Catelynn and Tyler face issues; Amber considers leaving rehab early.

It’s sad when we know that the temper tantrums are all going to be thrown by the moms instead of the babies. Except for Catelynn, the temper tantrum in her storyline will probably be thrown by Butch.

The Glee Project (Oxygen 10pm) The contenders pull out all the stops during a video shoot for Pussycat Dolls; Grant Gustin guest mentors.

The Pussycat Dolls always add that extra little boost of credibility and professionalism to any reality show.

What will you be watching tonight?

About

After giving birth to her fourth child, SuburBint carefully weighed the options and decided that recapping reality TV was probably a better choice in the long run than alcoholism. Liver function tests have yet to confirm the wisdom of this decision. Being an honest-to-goodness recapper is also a dream come true, as she has aspired to do this ever since discovering that such a thing existed way back in 2002.

Her favorite shows of all time include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Coupling, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Firefly, Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. She can also quote The Big Lebowski in its entirety, and will do so with little to no provocation.

Pussycat Dolls? How in the hell are any of these girls going to pull that off? Nellis has a slight chance, since she turns into a raving sex demon on camera. But the others? Seriously?

They’re just making fun of them now. How cruel. This season is turning into one giant slushy.

It’s gonna be a toss up between LA Complex and Masterchef.

Brooks shouldn’t give anybody a piece of his mind…there are so few to share *rim shot*

I am so disappointed in NGTV. I was expecting grainy shots of Gypsys repairing pots and collecting rags in donkey carts before returning to their colorful caravans.

Kthxy, are you in on this?

This is a night where my dvr is on overload. PLL, RHOC, WWHL, Dance Moms and Teen mom.

I may skip Teen Mom because I can no longer stand the site of Farrah’s face.

@ cherrylipgloss — As far as I know, the only housewives on last night were of the New York variety… perhaps your television is broadcasting shows from the future, and if that’s the case, I would start watching and betting on sports if I were you.

@ itchy — this season of The Glee Project does seem to be all about bringing the humiliation. I think Ryan Murphy needs to find a better therapist, he clearly has some issues to resolve!

@ Tallulah — MasterChef all the way! Actually, is LA Complex any good? I’ve steered clear because of the name, but if it’s actually worth watching I might give it a go. I’m running short on “guilty pleasure” shows at the moment.

@ SSC — Well played. If Brooks could read, I’m sure he would feel the burn. Re: American Gypsy, true, there are no caravans or tinkers, but they’re psychics! And the lady is wearing that headscarf that screams “Let me read your palm!!!!!” so cut them some slack. I read an article about the show on… Huffington Post, maybe? I don’t recall… and it said that they raise the girls in the family to be psychics. So much for “the gift” or whatever. Some are born psychics, some attain psychicness, and some have psychicness thrust upon them, I suppose.

@ classydrunk — the beauty of having a dvr is that you can fast forward through all of the Farrah scenes. I can’t stand her either, she is the poster child for entitlement.

I watched RHOC Reunion part 2 as well. It was on at 8 pm which was a little strange but yup, definitely watched Tamra tell Vix that she was going to hell and Vicki tell her 6 (?) months pregnant daughter to shut up!

That is so weird! I’m positive the RHOC episode didn’t show up on the listings… sorry if I missed it! I try to always put the Real Housewives in TT10S if there’s a new episode.

Super B, trust that there were powers greater than thee that ensured you missed it. Like, your subconscious telling you not to kill any more gray matter b/w the ears by counting how many times Tamra’s hair helmut changed in an hour!

Anybody watch the American Gypsies last night? Kthxy? As different from MBFAGY as KM is from Pageant Grandma! The first is an insane disaster; the second is the real deal. Interesting how in both cases, if in fact the southern group are really Rom, people who try so hard not to assimilate reflect their surrounding dominant cultures (hilljack and NewYawkah) so completely.

MBFAGW. Okay, no more commenting until I’ve had that first, crucial, cup of coffee.
