Tonight’s Top 10 Shows: Wednesday, April 18

Wednesday, April 18

The catastrophic earthquake and subsequent fire of San Francisco occurred on this date in 1906.

Survivor: One World (CBS 8pm) Episode: I’m No Dummy

That’s debatable, regardless of who says it.

American Idol (Fox 8pm) Finalists compete

This is not crazy.

America’s Next Top Model (The CW 9pm) The models must collaborate with young girls on a PSA for an anti-bullying campaign; singer Estelle poses with the contestants during the photo shoot.

Anti-bullying campaigns are the new ___________________________. Best comment gets a prize.

Sons of Guns (The Discovery Channel 9pm) Finale: Max Brooks, author of “The Zombie Survival Guide,” requests the ultimate zombie gun; the shop divides into teams for a zombie shootout.

Come the zombie apocalypse, I will be one of the first casualties. I’ve made peace with this fact.

Ghost Hunters (SyFy 9pm) The team investigates the U.S. Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland; a marine’s death still remains a mystery.

Every episode I’ve seen of this show is exactly the same, except for the location. “Did you hear that?!” “Did you see that?!” “Oh man, I just felt something!”

Revenge (ABC 10pm) Daniel’s imprisonment has an unexpected impact on Victoria; Jack’s search for Amanda becomes more desperate.

It’s back for realzies this week! If, like me, you can’t remember what happened in the first half of the season, S-Natch has got you covered.

Million Dollar Listing: New York (Bravo 10pm) Michael tries to prove himself on his own with his new Jean Nouvel building.

Jean Nouvel has a thing for glass. I would not want to put Michael in charge of this much glass.

South Park (Comedy Central 10pm) The boys’ ziplining adventure becomes a terrifying experience.

I thought that was the whole point of ziplining.

Toddlers & Tiaras (TLC 10pm) Destiny’s mom has pushed her credit cards to the limit.

And our patience.

Couple’s Therapy (VH1 10pm) The staff looks closely at the underlying causes of the relationship issues.

Unless they decide to go with, “You are all self-obsessed famewhores who are incapable of forming a healthy, meaningful bond with another human being,” they are doing it wrong.

What will you be watching tonight?

About

After giving birth to her fourth child, SuburBint carefully weighed the options and decided that recapping reality TV was probably a better choice in the long run than alcoholism. Liver function tests have yet to confirm the wisdom of this decision. Being an honest-to-goodness recapper is also a dream come true, as she has aspired to do this ever since discovering that such a thing existed way back in 2002.

Her favorite shows of all time include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Coupling, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Firefly, Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. She can also quote The Big Lebowski in its entirety, and will do so with little to no provocation.

Oh Supurb! I have it all figured out. I’ll turn on T&T, and then when Hubbycat flees in disgust, I’ll curl up and watch Fredrik on $1,000,000 Listing.

    *Sigh*

Anti-bullying campaigns are the new bullies. Disagree with them in any way, and they will TAKE YOU DOWN.

All I can say about bullying is that I waited until after marriage.

Anti-bullying campaigns are the new candlelight vigil.

Remember when people had a candlelight vigil for EVERYTHING: some teenager wrapped himself and five friends around a telephone pole–candlelight vigil. Tornado obliterates a pre-school–candlelight vigil. High School decides the sports mascot is not politically correct and replaces it with something way less cool–candlelight vigil. Somebody’s WOW character dies–online candlelight vigil.

There should be a bullying awareness ribbon to wear on your chest, and supermarkets should ask for a $1 donation at checkout for a piece of cardboard with the picture of an awareness ribbon on it to which you can sign your name and get it taped to the plate glass up front.

I linked in here from a comment from the side bar and I really didn’t realize that you were limited to ten shows. In that case, Jeff can continue to languish in obscurity.

I’m more than happy to include shows that people like to watch and want to see in the list, cos normally I just cull from the episodes that have a big fat “NEW” under the show description and try to hit stuff we recap here at the ‘Gasm.

And I must say, I’m sure Jeff has the art of languishing down perfectly.

Me and my friends make fun of people who don’t wear an anti-bullying ribbon. We like to follow after them in the mall and throw popcorn n’ stuff at them from upstairs, and sometimes we go to the movies and shoot spitballs at ‘em too. It cracks us up when they keep rubbing their faces and then they start crying.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! I’m an educator and I’ve been saying for over a year that people are treating the whole “bullying” thing as a trend. We all know what happens to trends! I tell my students that we can never control someone else’s behavior, but we can control our own. Basically there will always be mean people in this world, so their energy is better spent in how to deal with it instead of wishing it would go away.

We snark just a leetle bit here, and you have added to us with the voice of reason.

Lots of us are your colleagues and know what making a “cause” does to a real problem. SuperB and some of the other recappers like to shake us up once in a while. Kind of a recertification as human beings.

@Kammie — well said. One of the things that I hate the most about the whole anti-bullying trend is that it is such a public issue that people have become far more concerned with having the appearance of the thing than actually behaving in such a way that has any affect on the problem. My daughter has a former classmate who has achieved some minor celebrity, and one of the things that this girl has put her name to is an anti-bullying foundation. But that doesn’t change the fact that when my daughter sees her at parties for their mutual friends, the girl isn’t still a mean girl who talks behind other people’s backs and treats others poorly, just because she can. She could care less about how other people actually feel, but by golly, anti-bullying is soooo important! It’s ridiculous.

Oh my gosh, SuperB, you nailed it. It’s the superficiality, the lip-service that is the problem with the anti-bullying fashion.

Wanda Sykes once said that she tells people she’d love to adopt, followed by “I really don’t want to, but it just makes me sound like a nicer person.”

Well, okay, it’s fairly cool. It 87% sure that it won’t make her cry.

That’s what you all get for either not playing along or forgetting the rules of the game! Focus, my easily distracted little ‘Gasmites, because this just might happen again and then won’t you feel silly when your love for shiny objects keeps you from winning a (possibly) shiny object of your very own.
