Happy Bastille Day, or as the French call it, “La Fête Nationale” or “le quatorze juillet.” So drink some wine, eat some brie on a fresh baguette, and sing “La Marseillaise.”
The Firm (NBC 10pm) Finale: A new enemy threatens Ray and Tammy’s wedding; Mitch makes a stunning discovery as Patrick Walker’s trial starts.
Renewal status: Ha ha ha! Like a show that got shuffled to the 10pm on Saturdays slot during the summer months has any hope of renewal. I understand that fans are bombarding NBC with paperback copies of The Firm in an attempt to get a second season for their beloved show; as of the writing of this post, NBC has received exactly six books, with a projected two or three more expected to arrive over the next couple of weeks.
Sunday, July 15
MythBusters’ Adam Savage turns 45 today.
Leverage (TNT 8pm) Premiere: A shipping CEO’s cost-cutting measures result in a plane crash; the team cons a CEO into buying the Spruce Goose.
Image searches bring up the craziest things. I guess she’s holding a model of the Spruce Goose…? I went to see the Spruce Goose on a 4th grade field trip, and let me assure you, fishnet stockings were not remotely involved. But at least this picture will make Itchy happy.
Keeping Up With the Kardashians (E! 9pm) ….
No episode description. It’s like they’ve given up on trying to make enough sense out of what happens on this show to form a coherent synopsis.
True Blood (HBO 9pm) Sookie has a sense of foreboding; Pam breaks up a fight at Fangtasia; Lafayette visits Ruby Jean; Terry blames a curse for his troubles; Alcide challenges J.D.; Sam offers to help Andy; Roman reveals his plans for Russell.
On the other hand, so very many things happen in such a brief period of time on True Blood that this episode description consists of seven distinct plot lines. There has to be a happy medium somewhere
Breaking Bad (AMC 10pm) Walt deals with the aftermath of the explosion; Hank tries to wrap up his investigation into Gus’ empire.
I’m so freaking excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How are they going to top this?!
Real Housewives of New Jersey (Bravo 10pm) A live music festival courts drama; Caroline’s family goes to the Fancy Food Festival in Washington, D.C., but plans to sell water there may go awry after a night of drinking.
Theresa getting out of bed in the morning courts drama. Jacqueline going to the grocery store courts drama. Etc., etc.
Newsroom (HBO 10pm) Will lands in the tabloids; Wade approaches Will with information; Don asks Maggie to set Jim up with her roommate; Will refuses to make a call on a breaking story.
Aaron Sorkin continues to use fictional characters as mouthpieces for sharing his world view, instead of creating actually interesting story lines or anything that viewers can identify with or care about.
Weeds (Showtime 10pm) Nancy and Silas pursue Shane; Andy tries to bond with Jill’s daughters.
I will be continuing to torture my Nancy Botwin voodoo doll. Heads up, you guys — I’m pretty sure those “Make Your Own Voodoo Doll” kits at the checkout stand at Barnes & Noble are just a gimmick, cos that bitch is still alive.
Strange Sex (TLC 10pm) Premiere: Breastfeeding is a powerful aphrodisiac for Jeff; Lynn and Johnny celebrate their wedding anniversary with a hymenoplasty procedure.
Their parents must be so proud.
Political Animals (USA 10pm) Premiere: Secretary of State Elaine Barries agrees to allow a journalist to follow her for a week; a hostage crisis prompts a momentous decision.
So it’s Parks & Recreation minus the awesomeness
What will you be watching this weekend?
