Hawaii-Five-0-promo-art

Does anyone like the new shows this season? Is there a “favorite” that would just devastate you if it were canceled?

The rookie dramas haven’t stacked up to the veteran series & there is only one big hit & that’s Hawaii 5-O (CBS). I have not watched it yet, but alot of people have. It’s the only new show on the “Top Twenty” Nielsen’s rating list this past week. I like The Defenders (CBS) with Jim Belushi & Jerry O’Connell & The Whole Truth (ABC) with Maura Tierney & Rob Morrow. Both of them give me that courtroom drama I’ve been craving, but neither one fills the void left when “Boston Legal” ended & The Whole Truth is in danger of cancellation already. Blue Bloods (CBS) has done well in it’s Friday night timeslot. Actually CBS has won the ratings war every night at 10pm.

Lone Star (FOX) was the 1st show to be canceled followed by My Generation (ABC). It also looks like Jimmy Smit’s Outlaw (NBC) is a goner too. Undercover is headed that direction & even though I like the cop show Detroit 187, I’m hearing that it’s not doing so well in the ratings either.

I’m not sure what category No Ordinary Family (ABC) is under but it seems to be a big hit for ABC. I don’t get it. I couldn’t make it all the way through the first episode. It just didn’t keep me interested. The Event (NBC) is another one I couldn’t pay attention to. Can anyone tell me if it fills the “LOST” void? Am I missing something?

CBS isn’t planning on canceling anything right now but my beloved Medium is in danger again this season.

The new sitcoms are a mush-mash of mediocrity. Mike & Molly (CBS) & S#*! My Dad Says (CBS) are the only real ratings winners. I’m loving M&M. They have the fat jokes, but they don’t shove them down your throat. It’s the two of them together & the way they connect that makes it so enjoyable. The physical comedy is A-plus too. S#*! isn’t as funny as I was hoping it to be, but I watch every week to get my Capt. Kirk fix.

Better With You (ABC) is just plain dorky. I watch only because it’s sandwiched between The Middle & Modern Family which, by the way, are both great this season! Raising Hope (FOX) is okay if you liked “My Name is Earl”. It has the same mentality. It is a ratings hit for FOX & they have ordered a full season.

Running Wilde (FOX) has made me LOL a few times, but not enough to care if it gets the ax & it looks like it might be a goner already. Outsourced (NBC) is just a waste of time. The network can’t or won’t make it into an outrageously inappropriate show so it’s just stupid. Maybe it should be animated & move to FOX or Adult Swim.

As far as reality goes… I watched Harry Loves Lisa (TVLand) with Harry Hamlin & Lisa Rinna. I admit… I tuned in after I heard she had lip surgery to fix those humongous ones she had implanted years ago. They gained their own celebrity & Lisa didn’t like that. She was called out in the media for taking the cover off the People magazine with Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery changes. She didn’t want her girls to see it & think they needed to be “perfect” to be liked. Now she’s having her lips fixed. I will watch as she tries to make herself “perfect” all the while telling her kids that it doesn’t really matter. By the way… Harry’s adorable!

Teach (A&E) has Tony Danza going back to school as an English teacher…. interesting. From what I gathered from it’s first episode… this is on a trial basis. He has only one class & it’s monitored by a real teacher. He’s also an assistant coach on the football team. The kids don’t have a clue who he is… only that he was a TV star way before they were born. The parents get a little thrill out of meeting him…. and EVERYONE thinks he talks way too much! So far… not alot of teaching is happening & one student calls him out on his facts being wrong & another suggested he wear an undershirt because his shirt was soaked from sweating so much … LOL!

So tell me… what do you kids think of this new season?

Thanks for the report Chooch.I felt bad I wasn’t watching shows like Lonestar or M&M with all the hype, but after your review I am glad I didn’t waste my time. In the past a network might give a show a season to work itselfout. Sienfeld would never have a cahnce in today’s world.

I really love Nikita on The CW Network. I think it is the best spy show since Alias. I only watched Alias in syndication and on my DVDs so I can’t really say anything about their cliffhangers. The cliffhangers on Nikita are really awesome. It gets my heart pumping and I actually feel scared FOR the characters.

Maggie Q is awesome and so is Shane West. They make it believable. Xander Berkley from 24 is on it and great, just like 24. Lyndsey Foneca is decent but I am generally suspicious of her character. The superb acting and storytelling make me watch the episodes again and again online. Really, check it out Chooch.

I haven’t looked forward to a show every week as I do with Nikita since 24 first started. I am looking forward to Sanctuary on SyFy but that isn’t technically a new show. I hate when I get into shows when they aren’t on DVD because I have to deal with cliffhangers. lol. I like being able to see many at one time.

The only shows I’ve added to my DVR’s ‘Series’ list are Raising Hope, The Defenders, Detroit 1-8-7, Law and Order UK and IRT Deadliest Roads.

Other shows such as Running Wilde and Five-Oh are nighttime decisions.

After three episodes I’ve given up on Undercovers and Nikita and I have a feeling that No Ordinary Family will be going in the bin too.

    Other than that, I don’t watch SHIT…

I hope this past episode of Detroit 187 helps it in the ratings because I love Michael Imperioli and think it’s a pretty well written show and certainly a well acted show. And this I want to see how the new, multi-episode/season arc plays out.

I love The Middle and Modern Family! Has Community or Parks & Recreation come back yet? Cougartown is another disappointment..this has to be it’s last season.

Community has been on for 3 weeks now at 8pm on Thursday nights. It’s ratings have not been well. Parks & Recreation will premiere as a mid-season show because of Amy’s Poehler’s pregnancy hindered production.

the event and LOST do not even remotely belong to be mentioned in the same sentence. it’s basically a mix between 24 and V. and it has NOT impressed me. season pass…cancelled.

honestly, besides boardwalk empire of course, which is incredible, i think the only big winner is shit my dad says. the writing has gotten consistently better over the first three episodes and, quite frankly, william shatner is must see tv.

i’m really looking forward to matthew perry’s “mr. sunshine” coming in january. perry + thomas schlamme should equal success.

Totally agree on Shatner… I’d do him!

I’m stoked to see “Shameless” in January with William H. Macy. It’s my kind of show.

I’ve watched Hawaii 5-0 and Mike & Molly. I like them both. I don’t know about anything else. I am mesmerized by Sister Wives though. I was surprised I liked Mike and Molly, it felt like they were trying to replace my beloved Conners of Roseanne fame. Then I watched and actually laughed. Thanks chooch for all the info you give us. Love!

This is why I love Community! (This clip highlights its cleverness)

Now, if only I can remember to watch when it’s on so I can help keep it on the air..

Outsourced is awful. I really tried to watch, but it couldn’t hold my attention. I assume that after the 6 episode are finished parks and rec will be back and all will be well again with my Thursday nights.

I do appreciate NBC attempting to include a cast that is mostly minorities, but I guess if you can’t play upon their stereotypes then there’s always the elephant in the room that no one is talking about. That makes it weird and uncomfortable.
