If this isn’t breaking records, I don’t know what is. VH1 sent out a press release today saying they’re releasing 44 news shows in the year 2010. That’s an insane number! How is it even physically possible? They went from spinning EVERYTHING off, including spinoffs to spinoffs, and now they’ve decided that Jerry Springer isn’t their direction, and they want to launch shows to fit their core audience? Hope it works. I do know one thing…Jessica Simpson…not so much their core audience.
Jeff Olde, the Executive Vice President of VH1 said, “As a result, we’re taking our signature storytelling strengths and amplifying them through three distinct areas: music, celebrities and real life stories…And we’re expanding the ways we tell a story so that we have more ways to reflect on what’s happening in the music and pop culture that our viewers love.”
I guess throwing things up on a wall and hoping something sticks is one method to doing things…now, let’s hope something sticks…
