Watercooler Changing To Video Blogs

Watercooler

Hey Gasmii, we’ve been talking a lot over here at the Gasm offices, and my new mandate is to video blog!!! Nay or Yay?? Well, here’s how I see it…

The upside to video blogs: I’m SUPER A.D.D…I’m soooo A.D.D. that when I proof-read my blog posts, I still miss things and get in trouble with Flipit, so a video blog will make it fail proof because I won’t be writing. The Second advantage is I won’t have to hide at work to blog when I should be working (keeps me from potentially getting fired)…with that said there are some disadvantages...Ready for them? 1) I blog best when I’m on the toilet in the mornings. I call it “taking a blog.” You might laugh, but it’s true…ask Flipit. Problem is…I won’t be able to video blog while on the toilet anymore. There’s a word for that…fetish. 2) When I’m not working, I work from home in my pajamas…and sometimes leaving the house just to get a tank of gas can be challenging…so with that said, you will see a lot of Nads with no make-up (typical), no shower, and being VERY lazy. C’est la vie!

I’m sure more things will come up as I start video blogging, but I’ll just keep the list short for now so Flipit doesn’t get mad at me. ;-)

Can’t wait to take you on my video blogging adventures about all things pop culture. For the next month, I will most likely be blogging from my office or an edit bay (while I’m working).

Have a great weekend Gasmii! See you Monday…

Hopefully more like this:

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Please do every vlog from that toilet! LOVE YOU. This should be fun. I have to do it too and I’m starving myself. Can we just make a category called Toiletgasm where we talk poo while we poo?

Why can’t we have the best of all possible worlds? I get so bombarded with video/tv/radio and other media, I just love to read at my own pace once in a while. And I adore the ‘cooler.

As much as I would love to see more of your beautiful face, Nads, how we can get our watercooler fix while at work or school if there’s sound involved? As much as I want to tune out my graphic design professor, I’m not sure I’ll get away with wearing headphones in class. I’m with sec…can we comprise? Say, you vlog on the toilet wearing one of those dictation headsets that transcribes? Win-win! :)

I like reading at my own pace, too. Actually, a lot of the time I will skip the videos completely.

And I kind of feel like I have to add that I’m not liking the ad promos on the verification thingee we have to do before posting.

Count me as another nay. I prefer to read articles at my pace, too. Otherwise it is just like a clip from a tv show and I watch too much tv already. Also some folks, myself included, don’t have the best audio and prefer to read.

Of course I think it would be perfectly acceptable if you started each post with a pic of you on the toilet. Cute :-)

    Take care, Robin

Just something we’re gonna try, nothing is set in stone. We are, as always, reading what you guys have to say to make the site the best we can.

And Linda, if you are signed into TVgasm you don’t have to deal with CAPTCHA! ;)

I’m another fan of the reading so I would love both. I too often skip the vids. The funny thing is I can talk to everyone about the popular tvs show because of this site. I love reading but am not one for tv. I love reading the water cooler and would be sad if it went away (or in just vid form). And nads I love your writing even if it has mistakes!

I am in favor of short videos.. and even total video recaps if that is your thing. (I dare you to get Cherie to be your first).
I understand those who only want to read.. but there is tons of reading here and we have two great professionals who can do it well.. it is the future.

On another note, why does my captcha always say “one hit wonder?” Is it trying to tell me something?

@sarcasatire, my captchas today said “sticky wicket” and “poetic justice”. TUPAC LIVES!!! Don’t care what form my ‘cooler comes in, but then again, I also ‘work from home’ so I don’t have to deal with audio issues that vlogs would create …

But I am signed in to TVgasm and it’s not captcha, or not like it used to be. It’s an ad box and I have to type in stuff like I want DISH or Get DISH now and other variations.

Okay, I just cleared all my history and logged in and that seemed to take care of the problem. I forgot I sometimes have trouble on this site when using Chrome. Thanks for the heads up, Flipit.

It does not bother me either way. Reading is easier because if my son decides to torment my cat and I have to break them up before the baby or the cat gets hurt, I can just save my spot and save the day. The video is great with me because that is what I mostly do online anyway and I was a HUGE fan of the podgasms (the birthday episode with you drunk Nads was a great one).

I have an idea Nads/Flipit and hell, I would even volunteer for it. Have Nads do the Video Blogs and have her send them the day before to a person who will transcribe them word for word so the people who can’t watch the videos can still read what Nads said on the Watercooler? I mean, it might be a lot of work but I really have no life after my son goes to bed and it might be a good idea.

    It is just a suggestion.

No to videos, I read mostly at work, and never watch the videos anyway. I come here to read, not watch videos.
And this ad shit to comment is horrible.

    I vote No Video!
I sneak TV Gasm into my work day…every single day, 10 times a day….So it would be hard to watch videos.

Also, i just think reading is beter….allows you to listen to music, podcasts, etc at the same time.

Uh, though I would deny it if ever asked — I also look at TVGASM at work. I rarely click on any videos unless I’m at lunch but I’m usually looking at my gay political websites and listening to THEIR video at lunch.

I go to TVGASM for the written word (and Itchy).

I’d like to vote no also. Only because I read tvgasm at work I am normally on conference calls and couldn’t watch the videos.

I don’t want to wait to get home to watch the videos to chime in with the others.

I’m not in favor of vlogs if that’s the only format on the ‘cooler. I read this site all day, every day at work – constantly hitting ‘refresh’ for new comments and posts (like a damn monkey). I’d have to skip anything with sound since my boss is a selfish bastard and expects me to work all day.

BTW, didn’t know you were such a fox, Nads. Yow!

I personally like the idea of vlogging. It gives you a better idea of someone’s personality. Plus you guys tend to get off track on video, and that’s always my favorite part.

I vote no as well! I’m on here for almost the entire 8 hours while I’m at work everyday and I would legit cry if watercooler went to vid only :( I can’t watch videos at work and I love my reading-that’s why I live here ;)

My biggest problems with videos is the sound. I am on your site at work. Some days more time than others, but it it went to all videos – I would skip this section unless I was alone at work.

Are we working on making the site reader friendly? If possible, I would like to be able to put the shows I watch on a favorites list so I don’t constantly have to scroll past shows i don’t watch and don’t read the recaps. Now I have to admit, I have gotten sucked into shows just because the recaps are very entertaining. Tough Love and Couples Therapy are two examples. I do now watch Tough Love, I have zero interest in CT, but I love reading the recaps.

Total digression. Hope we all get a happy medium.

I would be crushed if I couldn’t slip in my fun reading at work. I’d end up finding a different site that doesn’t involve videos.
