Hey Gasmii, I know this is a TV blog, but I do like to write about other things other than TV from time to time, and today is one of those days. And that’s only because I’m a little in shock…I’m currently watching the new Willow Smith video (daughter of Will and Jada), and can’t believe what I’m seeing and hearing. This little girl isn’t even 10 yet, but she sings like a woman in her 20s. She almost sounds like Rihanna. It’s totally freaking me out, no joke. The song is SUPER catchy, but I’m still in utter shock that she can sound like that. It’s almost like she has Benjamin Button syndrome. I’m so confused…

Listen to Whip My Hair, and judge for yourself:

She’s going to be on Ellen today, so I’m most definitely DVRing to see how mature her voice really sounds. There is NO way.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Whoa. I think I was perfecting how to draw a palm tree at her age. Also, did anyone catch the baby dancing towards the end? Smart Play… I mean this is on YouTube.

    Who bedazzled her face?

Now I’m going to have this stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Tell us what you think . . .
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Maybe my parents felt the same way about the Fonda’s but I am sick of the Smith family pushing the birds out of the nest only to shit all over us. We could talk about how the auto tuner brought her voice down two octaves and in tune but I would rather pull apart the fact these people frighten me.

This little girl has been looking eviously from her brothers shadow for years. She designs clothes, acts, and now music… save us before they go animated.
Why the hell can’t they put their kids in AYSO Soccer like the rest of us? The browines are missing a cookie pusher… and you know how militant they are.

And the song, the music may be catchy but the words are stupid. Let’s celebrate the fact she isn’t singing about getting between the sheets with Johnny from the block.

Honestly if we get to vote on BEST VIDEO ABOUT HAIR….. Seseame Street gets my Grammy Vote.

Am I the only one who loves this song?? I taught my 9-mos to “shake her head” a few days ago and when I played this video yesterday I yelled ‘shake your head” everytime the chorus came on. It was the cutest thing ever.

She sounds precocious for her age but so did Raven Simone when she made “That’s What Little Girls Are Made of” at age 9.

And before we blame the Smiths for pushing this, Willow was signed by Jay-z. So, obviously, he sees some marketability in her, as well. It’s one thing to exec produce your kid’s film and use your own cash to fund it’s production, it’s another thing entirely to convince others to produce their albums. So, someone must believe Willow has a shot.

And, Nads, because I love you, here is a combination of yesterday’s hair video and today’s…

Why can’t the Pinkett-Smith kids be regular kids that go to school have friends and play sports. I was totally thrown when she actually stated that she wanted to go to school but she is pursuing her career. I don’t like the song at all a 9 yr old should not be calling for her ‘ladies’ nor talking about being on her ‘grind’(yes I know not the sexual grind its the working hard grind). Like Nads stated she doesn’t sound like a tween she sounds like a woman. Ugh damn Will and Jada for PIMPING out their children

Well, this is really not my thing and it definitely won’t be my thing once “The Fresh Princess..” shows up on Nick.

Amazing how much she favors her father! Clearly, the last time that she and her brother (more the latter) were considered cute and precocious was prior to them learning to talk. Still cringing over the family’s Oprah interview: “Yes, O, we feel it’s our parental calling, no – duty, to mold our little militant entertainers…” I felt awkward just watching, as well as feeling a great deal of pity. So very young to be that self-absorbed and superior. You’d almost like to hear a few thank yous to compliments, rather than oh, don’t I know it…

I feel ya, NWMTV. I also hated Shirley Temple. I admit I kind of had a crush on Jodie Foster when she was on Courtship of Eddie’s Father, though.

It wasn’t that bad, I’d definetly choose Willow over Miley if I had to & stabbing myself in the ear wasn’t a choice. But I’m so irritated with all the “song writers” out there who just repeat one or two damn lines over & over & call it a day! I’m looking at you too, Black Eyed Peas!!

Her voice has been autotuned beyond recognition. Beyond that, though, the song is catchy as all get out. The video, however, is seizure inducing.

Oh, and my 11-year-old daughter said Willow looks too grown up in the video, so take that as you will.
